Held at Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University, this national workshop brought together scholars and researchers to address a gap in serious scholarship on Northeast India: while articles and papers on the region are plentiful, in-depth monographs remain rare. Addresses by Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Rana Pratap Kalita, Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, and Prof. Rajendra Prasad Das framed the discussion around Parampara-based knowledge transmission, the primacy of ideas over personalities, and the importance of preserving indigenous terminology rather than diluting it through translation. The workshop identified eleven broad research areas, from borderland studies to oral traditions, and set a long-term goal of developing roughly 100 monographs on the region, with CIASS committing to bear publication costs for selected works.
